Holiday HQ Privacy:
Formatics LLC ("we," "us," or "our") built Holiday HQ to help you plan holidays, birthdays, and gift-giving. This policy explains what information the app handles and how.
Information We Collect
Stored only on your device
The following information is entered by you and stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device data framework. It is never sent to our servers or to Apple's iCloud:
- People you add — name, phone number (optional), photo, birthday, hobbies, likes, gift wishes, and notes
- Checklist items — titles, due dates, notes, locations, and photos
- Receipts — store name, date, amount, notes, and scanned images
- Custom calendar events
This data stays on your device (and in your own iCloud device backup, if you have one enabled through iOS itself) unless you delete it or delete the app.
Sent to Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) to enable Chat
To let you chat with people you invite, the following is stored in Apple's iCloud CloudKit service:
- The chat display name and chat photo you choose to show others
- Messages you send — text, photos, links, notes, and gift wishes — along with the time sent
- Conversation and group information (names, who created it, invite codes)
- Your iCloud account identifier, used only to identify you within a conversation
This data is used solely to operate the chat feature. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone other than the people you're chatting with. If you leave a conversation, your access to it ends; if you're its creator and no one else remains in it, the conversation is removed.
Camera and Photos
Holiday HQ can use your camera to scan a receipt or attach a photo to a gift wish, a chat message, a person's profile, or your own chat photo. Photos you choose from your library are selected through Apple's built-in picker, which does not give the app access to your photo library beyond the image you select.
Contacts
If you choose to import a name and phone number from your Contacts, the app uses Apple's built-in contact picker. This lets you select one contact without giving the app any broader access to your address book.
Face ID / Touch ID
If you turn on the optional app lock, Face ID or Touch ID is used to unlock the app. This is handled entirely by iOS — Holiday HQ never receives or stores your biometric data; it only receives a yes/no result from the system.
In-App Purchase (Holiday HQ Unlimited)
Holiday HQ is free to use for up to 3 people in your People list. Holiday HQ Unlimited is an optional, one-time purchase (not a subscription) that removes that limit. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit — Holiday HQ never sees or stores your payment information (card numbers, billing address, etc.). The app only ever learns whether the purchase was completed, so it can unlock the feature; that status may sync across your devices through your Apple Account, the same way any App Store purchase does.
What We Don't Do
We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking software of any kind. We do not sell your information. We do not share your information with third parties except as described above (Apple's iCloud, used to operate Chat, and Apple's StoreKit, used to process the optional purchase).
Your Choices and Your Right to Delete
- You can add, edit, or remove any person, checklist item, receipt, or calendar event at any time.
- You can turn off the app lock at any time in Settings.
- **Delete My Data**, in Settings, gives you a complete and permanent way to erase your information. It removes every message you've sent and every conversation you're part of from Apple's iCloud, then wipes all locally stored data — people, checklists, gift ideas, receipts, notes, and photos — from this device. This action is irreversible: once started, there is no way for us or you to recover the deleted data.
- Uninstalling the app removes all data stored locally on your device, but does not by itself remove chat data already stored in iCloud — use Delete My Data first if you want a complete removal.
Children's Privacy
Holiday HQ is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
